Monday morning Keynote: Marketing Your Brand
John Fareed, MSc CHME ISHC, is Managing Director for Horwath HTL in the US with offices in New York NY, Norfolk VA and Orlando FL. He is an internationally recognized authority in the field of hospitality, and has spoken on the topic at industry events in Australia, Brazil, Croatia, Egypt, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, United Kingdom, United Arab Emirates, and across the US, Canada and Caribbean. Fareed has appeared as an expert on national television programs including ABC News, CNN and Fox News Network, in publications such as the New York Times, USA Today, and the Wall Street Journal, and has had articles published in numerous trade journals. Fareed holds two postgraduates including a Master of Science degree in Hospitality Management from the Dublin Institute of Technology's School of Hospitality Management and Tourism in Dublin, Ireland—where his is currently pursuing a PhD—as well as professional designations from the prestigious International Society of Hospitality Consultants (ISHC) and the Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association International (HSMAI). HSMAI recognized Fareed as one of the "Top 25 Extraordinary Minds in Sales and Marketing", and he currently serves as Chairman of ISHC and as Chairman of the Board of Trustees for HSMAI's International Foundation.
Monday afternoon Keynote: How to Create a Coaching Culture
Jennifer Currence is the president of OnCore Management Solutions in Tampa Bay, Florida, where she partners with leaders to provide performance improvement solutions that make a positive impact on a company's culture and their bottom line. She is founder of OnCore Academy, an online learning system for HR and professional effectiveness. She has been recognized as a Thought Leader by the International Society of Performance Improvement (ISPI), a Subject Matter Expert by the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM), featured in HR Magazine, Fast Company magazine, and BambooHR.com, and was named the Tampa Bay HR Consultant of the Year for 2017.
Jennifer has 20 years of experience in Human Resources, earned her MBA with an emphasis in management, and holds nationally accredited certifications in coaching (CPC) and human resources (SPHR and SHRM-SCP). She is a professor of management at the University of Tampa and served as Project Editor for SHRM's new 2016 Learning System. Jennifer is an international speaker. Her books "Developing Business Acumen" and "Applying Critical Evaluation" are the firsts in a series of eight books for the SHRM Competency Series: Making an Impact in Small Business.
Tuesday morning Keynote with Kathy Davanzo: Leadership
Jim has a passion for transformation; helping individuals, teams, and organizations maximize their effectiveness. Leveraging lessons learned from his own 30-year leadership career and his training as an Industrial-Organizational Psychologist, Jim focuses on the design and delivery of leader development programs that create meaningful and sustained changes in leader behavior. In addition to his work with CODA Partners, Inc., Jim is a Professor of Leadership and Strategy for the Jack Welch Management Institute's MBA program, a faculty member of Purdue University Global, and serves as a FastStart facilitator for the University of Tampa's MBA program. He is also an executive coach for senior leaders working in a variety of settings.
Before co-founding CODA Partners, Jim served at the executive leadership level for a range of organizations. Previous roles include President and CEO of a research, evaluation, and development company, Senior Vice President of a national child-caring organization, Program Director at a large community mental health center, and Director of Human Resources for a training school.
Jim holds a bachelor's degree in Psychology from Bowling Green State University, an MBA from NOVA Southeastern University, and a PhD in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from the Harold Abel School of Psychology at Capella University. His research focuses on cognitive psychology and the link between self-identity and leadership performance. He is a member of the Association for Talent Development (ATD), the International Society for Performance improvement (ISPI), and the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology. He is certified in a variety of workplace assessments including the MBTI®, FIRO-B®, and Strong Interest Inventory.®
Kathy is a nationally known consultant, speaker, and trainer with over 30 years of professional speaking, training, and human resources leadership experience. Kathy's speaking and training programs are designed to increase leadership capacity through development of a strong Leader P.O.V.® (Point of View) and the development of the competencies needed to become a more connected leader. Kathy finds a genuine connection with her audiences so as to create a highly interactive learning environment - incorporating stories, humor, thoughtful quotes and concepts, the research of CODA Partners, her experiences, and the experiences of the audience into a dynamic, fast paced and informative event.
Before transitioning to full-time consulting, speaking, and training, Kathy served as a human resources leader at a Fortune 200 multi-location manufacturer of commercial foodservice equipment and as the chief HR leader for a multi-state nonprofit provider of services to youth and their families.
Kathy holds a bachelor's degree in English and Communications Education from Miami University and a master's degree in Education from the University of Miami. Kathy is a member of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) and Association for Talent Development (ATD). She is a certified administrator of the Leadership Spectrum® and the Conflict Dynamics Profile.® As a volunteer, Kathy is a FAST Start Facilitator for the University of Tampa MBA program and served on the SHRM Katrina Disaster Panel. She has been a SHRM Chapter president and served three years as the Workforce Readiness Chair for the HR Florida State Council, speaking and consulting with chapters and their members on what companies need to do to ensure a 21st century workforce.
